Urban Bush Women Working with Students (Sept. 2019)
Urban Bush Women (UBW) seeks to bring the untold and under-told histories and stories of disenfranchised people to light through dance.
During their CAI residency, the members of the Urban Bush Women dance company and UB Music Prof. George Caldwell engaged with a wide variety of UB students. In addition to working intensively with students in the Dept. of Theatre & Dance, they visited classes of Music and general education students. In these settings, UBW helped students with limited to no exposure to modern dance learn to listen to, feel, and move in relationship to music. They provided insight into the creative process involved in the creation of UBW's "Walking with 'Trane."
