The WNY Refugee Health Summit brings together practitioners, researchers, policy makers, resettlement and refugee communities to examine barriers and explore solutions to culturally engaged health care provision for refugees.

Dr. Issam Smeir, DDS, MA, PhD, LPC is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in trauma treatment for refugees and has worked in over 40 countries. In 2008 he became the national clinical consultant for World Relief in the U.S. In addition to consulting, he is an adjunct professor at Judson University.
New York LMSW & LCSW Social Work Contact Hours: Offered in collaboration with the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Education; recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0001. Full attendance is required; no partial credit will be awarded for partial attendance. 3 live contact hours are approved.
Continuing Medical Education Credits: The University at Buffalo is accredited by the ACCME to sponsor CME for physicians. The UB School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Parking for the Summit will be available in the All Pro lot at the corner of Ellicott and Goodell at no cost. Parking is also available on the side streets surrounding the Educational Opportunity Center.
