Jared Aldstadt, a medical geographer, is an expert on the transmission of infectious disease, including mosquito-borne illnesses.

His research aims to understand how diseases spread under varying environmental conditions and to develop disease reduction strategies tailored to local circumstances.

Aldstadt can discuss both the dengue and Zika viruses. He has conducted field research on dengue in Southeast Asia and published extensively on the virus and the Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits it in human populations. Aedes aegypti is also responsible for the spread of Zika virus, chikungunya and yellow fever, and Aldstadt can also discuss the risk of transmission of these diseases in various parts of the world.
