BUFFALO, N.Y. – Stanley M. Bergman, chief executive officer of Henry Schein, the world’s largest provider of health care products and services, will deliver the commencement address to the graduating class of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at the Center for the Arts on the North Campus. The commencement will celebrate the 123rd class of the UB dental school.
“We are delighted and honored to have Mr. Stanley M. Bergman share his insights with our future colleagues,” says Michael Glick, dean of the School of Dental Medicine.
A long-time supporter of the School of Dental Medicine, Bergman and Henry Schein have donated instruments, supplies and funding to support student instruction and community outreach programming.
In his address, Bergman will stress that graduates need to make the most of the “tremendous promise of the great profession” they have chosen and become leaders in advancing oral health, whether by adopting new technology or promoting social responsibility to give back to those in need.
Henry Schein is a Fortune 500 company with operations in 29 countries, including an office in Williamsville. Bergman has served as chairman of the board and CEO of Henry Schein since 1989, leading the company to 14 consecutive years on Fortune magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies list, including first place in 2015 in the Wholesalers: Health Care industry.
His awards include the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and CR Magazine’s Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award. Bergman is also an honorary member of the American Dental Association and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
Bergman is a graduate of University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
