ABI/INFORM (Ovid) is a database that provides access to the abstracts and indexing of approximately 1,000 business journals published since 1985. Subjects covered by this database include information on companies, products, business strategies and tactics, accounting and auditing, economics, law and taxation, management science, computers, human resources and marketing.
ABI/INFORM has been available to the UB community for many years, first as a CD-ROM product housed at Lockwood Library, then as a file on the BISON system. Now ABI/INFORM is available on BISON II-and it's better then ever. In addition to offering abstracts and indexing, ABI/INFORM now provides full-text coverage of over 500 business journals. The Economist, Forbes, Fortune, Industry Week, MIS Quarterly, and the Journal of Accountancy are just some of the journals available in full-text.
Besides offering full-text, ABI/INFORM now has a new search interface. The database uses Unix-based Ovid software from Ovid Technologies, Inc., and the intuitive interface brings the best out of ABI/INFORM. An attractive graphical design provides for easy navigation within the system, and the many field-specific indexes and date and language limiting features, are enough to satisfy the savviest of online searchers.
To access ABI/INFORM, point your Web browser to the University Libraries Home Page at http://wings.buffalo.edu/libraries. Select "Online Resources," then choose ABI/INFORM from the "Indexes and Abstracts" listing.
