Employment Scam - "You have been offered a Job Opportunity"(05/10/2021)

An email from "UB-HR" claiming that "An administrative Assistant is needed" and asking the recipient to respond to "Prof. Elisabeth Moore" at a gmail account to apply.

1. The email address may appear to include the legitimate employees name, but often uses a non-UB email address.
2. Urgent language is being used to get an immediate response.
3. If you respond, the scammer will typically claim to be unavailable by phone.

1. Change any passwords on accounts that were involved in the scam

1. Stop communicating with the scammer immediately.
2. If you've lost money:

• contact any financial institutions involved
• Make a report to your local law enforcement.  If you are a member of the University at Buffalo, please contact University Police
• File a complaint at the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3
