Living with your friends can be one of the best experiences of your life. At UB, we make it easy for you to request your on-campus roommate of choice.
If you are a new student at UB or a transfer student here, you can request a specific roommate during the Grouping and Selection process. Preferences are honored on a space available and eligibility base. Each member of the group group must:
Roommate requests must be mutual with all roommates indicating each other by the preference deadline. Please note that not all students are eligible to live in all areas.
Even if you are not paired with your requested roommates, all students who submit their housing application (and, for new and transfer students, their tuition deposit) by the deadline are guaranteed on-campus housing.
The earlier you and your roommate(s) complete your housing application, the earlier your self-selection time will be.
Current students can form a roommate group with their desired roommate(s) during the Grouping and Selection process.
Each member of the group group must:
Please note that not all students are eligible to live in all areas.
Even if you are not paired with your requested roommates, all current students who submit their housing application by the deadline are guaranteed on-campus housing. If you do not request a specific roommate, you can use the roommate matching tool to search for a roommate in the housing portal during the Grouping process.
For graduate and professional students, Flickinger Court Apartments offer family-friendly housing. Only one person needs to be a student at UB (contact us for details), and units can be rented as same-sex units or as gender-inclusive units.
UB offers gender-inclusive housing areas in select residence halls and apartments. In these communities, students are welcome to have roommates of different genders in the same room.
