In the fall of 2023, I charged a Task Force on Generative AI in Teaching and Learning to explore and evaluate the ethical, pedagogical, and technical dimensions associated with the integration of Generative AI in teaching and learning. I am pleased to share the Task Force’s report which includes recommendations, links to expanded resources related to the use of Generative AI in higher education, and the results of a faculty and a student survey on the issue.
I am grateful to E. Bruce Pitman, Professor of Materials Design and Innovation and Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer, for chairing this task force and to all its members for their efforts in creating a thoughtful set of recommendations that will guide the campus as we help our students learn and thrive in a new technology and information environment.
