A World Semiconductor
Scholars' Forum

November 1-2, 2024

Overview

The University at Buffalo hosted an invitation only forum for global semiconductor experts, emphasizing New York State's major investments in the semiconductor industry. These investments include Governor Hochul’s $10 billion Green CHIPS initiative, Micron’s $100 billion megafab, GlobalFoundries' $11.6 billion expansion, a $10 billion public-private R&D partnership, and a $40 million federal grant for the NY SMART-I Corridor, promoting research and development in Buffalo, Syracuse, and Rochester. Attendees shared insights and developed strategies to strengthen the state’s semiconductor ecosystem. The output of this forum will be a white paper of recommendations in the near future.
