Congratulations to Associate Professor Ashlee Ford Versypt for being elected to serve as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Division of the AIChE. This role is the first in four-year sequence of leadership roles for the Division including 2nd Vice Chair, 1st Vice Chair, Chair, and Past Chair. The CAST Division is responsible for the wide range of activities within AIChE that involve the application of computers and mathematics to chemical engineering problems including process design, process control, operations, and applied mathematics.
Dr. Ford Versypt has been a member of AIChE since 2006. She is currently a senior member of the insititute and a member of the CAST Division, the Education Division, the Food, Pharmaceuticals, and Life Sciences Division, the K-12 Community, the Minority Affairs Community, and Women in Chemical Engineering, with the CAST Division being her primary professional comunity. In the last decade, she has chaired more than 20 AIChE Annual Meeting sessions, predominantly in the CAST Division. In her current role as CAST Director (2022-2024), she is in charge of the judging for the CAST Division posters at the 2024 Annual Meeting.She has been ont he CAST Executuve Committee since December 2016, where she volunteered to be the first Social Media Chair for CAST. She also served as the 2018 Program Coordinator for CAST Area 10D: Applied Mathematics and Numerical Analysis. Dr. Ford Versypt also served as the Chair-Elect/Chair/Past-Chair in 2019-2022 for the ASEE Chemical Engineering Division, in addition to earlier positions and her current role as Awards Chair. Additionally, she is an academic trustee of CACHE (Computer Aids for Chemical Engineering) and is on the organizing committee for the 2027 ASEE/AIChE Chemical Engineering Summer School. She was the organizer for the 2024 Great Lakes Process Systems Engineering Student Workshop in Buffalo, N.Y.
