Here's why the Kroger merger with Albertsons was killed

The Cincinnati Enquirer quotes Christine Bartholomew in a story about why Kroger’s $25 billion proposed takeover of rival Albertsons ultimately failed. “The fact that the orders are based on traditional antitrust principles makes them harder to appeal,”  Bartholomew said. “They didn’t rely on the labor issue. It’s the safest, most apolitical interpretation of antitrust.”
