Helen Cappuccino, MD ’88, BA ’84
Cappuccino works at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center specializing in the surgical management of breast cancer and is an associate professor at UB’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS) and at the University of Rochester. Her interests there also include culinary medicine. She serves on the admissions committee at UB JSMBS, where she also founded and taught the culinary medicine elective. She is a founding member of UB DoctHERS. She was honored as one of 50 of America’s most positive physicians nationally. She also serves on the executive committee of the UB Foundation, chairing the gift and stewardship committee.
She enjoys non-profit work and is currently on the Boards of the Buffalo AKG Art Gallery, the University of Buffalo Foundation, Western New York Women’s Foundation, and Chaîne des Rotisseurs Foundation Board, previously having served on the boards of Lockport City Ballet and the Kenan Center. She has chaired numerous charity events for schools and cultural organizations, including the Eastern Niagara United Way, the UB Scholarship Galas and Elmwood Franklin School. She and her husband have enjoyed medical missions to Kenya.
Her outside business endeavors include a film production company with husband Andy, and son, Mac. They have produced five feature-length films including “Arthur Newman” (featuring Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Golden Globe nominee and winner Emily Blunt) and “Aftershock” (with Eli Roth), both of which were selected to the Toronto International Film Festival.
She is the features editor and writer for Gastronome, a food and wine magazine for the Chaîne des Rotisseurs, an international food and wine society.
They enjoy their six children and their partners, their grandchildren, traveling, great food and wine, their vegetable garden, reading, art and friendships.
