Woodruff elected Chair-elect AACP Technology in Pharmacy Education and Learning Special Interest Group

Ashley Woodruff, PharmD, director of Interprofessional Education and clinical associate professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, has been elected Chair-elect of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Technology in Pharmacy Education and Learning Special Interest Group (TIPEL SIG) where she will serve a three-year term.

The TIPEL SIG helps institutions and the members of AACP integrate educational technologies that positively impact student learning and the processes of teaching, learning and assessment.

Woodruff joined the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS) Department of Pharmacy Practice as a clinical assistant professor in 2013 and was promoted to the rank of clinical associate professor in 2019. In 2023 she was appointed Director of Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the Division of Education and Teaching Innovation (ETI) in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. In her current role as director of IPE, she is responsible for ensuring our school’s IPE program meets accreditation standards, developing IPE activities and coordinating integration of SPPS faculty and students in IPE activities.

“As an educator who frequently leverages technology and novel learning pedagogies in didactic and experiential settings, the TIPEL SIG has served as a resource to me and a natural home for academic professional service,” says Woodruff. “I’ve been privileged to serve on several committees within the TIPEL SIG over the last few years and I look forward to serving in a leadership role as Chair-elect.”

Woodruff has considerable experience in educational leadership and previously served as co-chair of the SPPS Curriculum Committee from 2018-2019, chair of the SPPS Outcomes and Assessment Committee since 2020 and chair of the PHM Pharmacotherapeutics Committee since 2014.
