Turning the Page on Innovation

At the UB Libraries, we are only at the beginning of our transformation—a vision centered on making knowledge more accessible to our students, Buffalo and the world. The UB Libraries are critical to helping students navigate today’s overwhelming information landscape, preserving our past, and using new tools to solve society’s complex challenges.

We are seeking a $7.5 million investment in knowledge expansion.

Here Is How We Transform Learning and Boost Student Performance

With three campuses, six libraries and a robust off-campus repository, the UB Libraries are committed to innovating and growing to better respond to modern student needs and provide wider access to information. Silverman Library is just one example of how we are defining this new way of learning and collaborating. With your investment, we’ll continue our work in Silverman. We will scale our vision to the new medical library at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. And we will renovate the Health Sciences and Lockwood Memorial libraries to create state-of-the-art, collaborative learning spaces.

Here Is How We Help Researchers Go Further

Scholars start with the UB Libraries. Here, our librarians work with researchers every step of the way, aiding them as they discover scholarship, build digital collections, measure impact and publish their work. And we enhance applications of research that have real-world impact. For instance—changing the way medical students and others navigate immense archives of medical research. With additional philanthropic support, the UB Libraries will help transform how we think about and use research in every aspect of our daily lives to better inform life-changing decisions, increase success and discover research-backed innovation—all applicable worldwide.

Here Is How We Preserve Our Past and Share It With the World

The UB Libraries’ unmatched special collections and archives are only as good as they are available and viewable. Now, we want to make our distinctive special collections more visible and accessible to the world, as well as secure and enhance our international reputation as a destination for scholars and the community. Philanthropy will have a significant impact by endowing high-impact positions, and providing funding to make resources available and accessible in innovative ways.

The Power of Your Investment

The UB Libraries are turning the page on creating and building libraries as spaces to connect, collaborate and create. We combine the power of knowledge and research to solve some of society’s toughest challenges and ensure accessibility to our past for the good of our future. Together, we are investing in the future of navigating and accessing a new and complex global information landscape. Now, with the power of philanthropy, we can drive our students and our community toward a new learning landscape at the UB Libraries.
