Serweta Peck awarded BAF'S 2024 Pro Bono Award in Distinguished Service

UB architecture faculty members Maia Peck and Gregory Serweta, AIA (BS Arch ‘06) of Serweta Peck have been awarded the 2024 Pro-Bono Award in Distinguished Service by the Board of the Buffalo Architecture Foundation. 

Peck and Serweta were recognized by the BAF for their involvement in the exhibition design, including spatial organization and custom furniture, for “Reset: Towards a New Commons,” which was curated by Barry Bergdoll and Juliana Barton and exhibited at the non-profit organization Center for Architecture (CFA) in 2022. Their office collaborated with Pentagram, as well as with Prime Access Consulting, an inclusive design firm, to create environments that promote inclusivity and holistic approaches to design.

The board cited Serweta Peck’s “thoughtful installations and considerations for barrier-free environments and Universal Design principles (that) have received widespread acclaim from both the architecture community and beyond.” The exhibition has been covered in publications such as New York Magazine, Metropolis, and Architectural Record

The award was presented by the Board of the Buffalo Architecture Foundation at the Buffalo/WNY AIA Service Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at the Eleanor and Wilson Greatbatch Pavilion at the Darwin D. Martin House.
