Kinga Winnicka is a PhD candidate with a Master’s degree in English from the University of Rochester and Bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in English and French from the University of Louisville. She is currently finishing her dissertation titled, “Imagined Cityscapes: New Perspectives on Future Urbanization in Contemporary SF.” Her project is interdisciplinary and exploratory in nature, assessing a selection of contemporary speculative fiction from a range of perspectives such as urban studies, architecture, and sociology. She is the 2020-2021 recipient of the Niciszewska-Mucha Dissertation Completion Fellowship and plans to defend her doctoral work in the spring of 2021. In addition to her academic endeavors, Kinga is an avid world traveler, plays the violin, and enjoys painting and hiking.
