Barbara J. Bono is UB Associate Professor Emerita in English and Global Gender and Sexuality Studies.
In her 45+ year scholarly and teaching career she focused mostly on the literature of the early modern period, including Shakespeare, whose dramatic works were the subject of pitched and consequential battles about the truth status of literature and performance in that period. Besides, then, being a scholar of rhetoric and writing, she has, up to and since her retirement, been centrally involved in the work of several social and environmental justice not-for-profits and electoral and policy debates in the city of Buffalo.
