WHO:  University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi and members of the UB community will welcome Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown to campus and will sign their support for the City of Buffalo Opportunity Pledge.

WHAT:  Mayor Brown initiated the City of Buffalo Opportunity Pledge to encourage businesses, organizations and residents to commit to building a culture of inclusiveness and equity in Buffalo.

To date, more than 5,400 individuals and more than 223 businesses/organizations have signed the pledge, representing more than 159,000 employees, students and members.

WHY:  UB is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in the hiring of faculty and staff, in the enrollment of students and in creating a safe and welcoming campus environment for all people.  The university is also committed to advancing new business, job and educational opportunities resulting from the university’s growth in downtown Buffalo and from the city’s renaissance.

WHEN: 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27.
