Based on the ongoing investigation of the abduction and robbery of two UB students on the North Campus on Sunday, Nov. 23, University Police and the Buffalo Police Department now believe that the incident was not "random" and that the two students were selected for specific reasons.

As a result, the university community is being advised that the general safety threat advisory issued last week after the incident has been lifted.

Still, members of the UB community are reminded that it is always good practice, on or off campus, to exercise cautions such as an awareness of surroundings, using well-lighted paths and parking areas, traveling with others, and having access to a personal phone or campus blue light phone to report suspicious circumstances.
