About Us

D&I.

Accomplishing the CTSI mission of reducing health disparities requires that results of research be disseminated and implemented into real-world settings. Dissemination and implementation science examines the process by which scientific evidence is disseminated to and implemented in clinical settings and communities. Its end-products are evidence-based and generalizable implementation strategies that translate effective practices and treatments into real-world settings to improve community and population health, especially for those with adverse social determinants of health.

The Dissemination and Implementation Science Core engages with research teams and their diverse community partners to drive research that is relevant and impactful in addressing real-world problems in healthcare and health disparities. Core activities include a consultation service to guide hub teams in dissemination and implementation methods; training and empowering our institutional workforce with a workshop series, a dissemination and implementation toolkit for investigators, and career guidance and mentor connection programs; and facilitating a learning health partnership (see below) to accelerate dissemination and implementation by leveraging existing partnerships and developing new partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Dissemination and Implementation Learning Health Partnership

We will extend the concept of a learning health system, which focuses on priorities of the healthcare system, to include community stakeholders in a novel learning health partnership, which focuses on priorities of communities that health systems serve.

Learning health partnerships will accelerate dissemination and implementation science to reduce health disparities by leveraging existing partnerships and developing new partnerships with stakeholders. A learning health partnership will center on community priorities, particularly groups experiencing health disparities. Examples of community-academic partnerships include legal, housing, health, advocacy, education, faith communities, and business.

The D&I Science Core will maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the partnership and facilitate introductions and connections across community and dissemination and implementation researchers to achieve the above goals.

If interested in connecting to stakeholders through the learning health partnership, please contact the D&I Science Core through the service request form.
