Designed for individuals engaging in research, including graduate students, post-docs, fellows, faculty, and research staff, BERD workshops are free of charge to all SUNY and Buffalo Translational Consortium institutions.
Attendees will gain enhanced knowledge and skills related to formulating well-defined clinical and translational research questions and incorporating regulatory precepts into the design of future basic and clinical studies and grant awards as well as analyzing data for publication in scientific journals.
Research Bootcamp
The CTSI BERD Research Bootcamp, one of the CTSI Core Competency Workshops, encompasses the following core competencies: study design and hypothesis formulation, statistical analysis, sample size and power, and reading and critiquing the scientific literature. All sessions will feature faculty from UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions.
Data Mining in Health Sciences Mini-Series
The CTSI BERD Data Mining in Health Sciences Mini-Series is designed to turn attendees into more educated consumers of statistics specifically with regards to data mining. Attendees will gain an overview of data mining methodology as well as details on classification and clustering techniques with applications in health science fields.
Clinical Trials Mini-Series
The CTSI BERD Clinical Trials Mini-Series is designed to turn attendees into more educated consumers of statistics, epidemiology, and research design methodology as applied to clinical trials. Attendees will gain enhanced knowledge of clinical trial basics, clinical trial outcomes and analysis concepts, design of pilot trials, randomization techniques, data safety monitoring, advanced parallel group design, clinical trial data management, and regulatory issues in clinical trials.
