The "Sofia Learns About Research" activity book presents research in a non-threatening way by describing the journey of Sofia, a child with asthma. You are invited to join Sofia as she learns about health research and considers enrolling in a clinical trial.
The book appeals to elementary school and middle school children (e.g. coloring for younger children and activities for older children). It may be also attractive to adults who are learning English (e.g. taking ESL courses).
If you would like to read the book, you may download a copy in English, Arabic or Spanish.
An online, interactive version of “Sofia Learns About Research” is now available! Click here to start reading, coloring, and learning more about how to participate in health research. Runs best using Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
Our team collaborated to develop a story that would be accessible to youth (and even adults) of various cultures, learning and literacy levels with related activities.
A playable video game version of “Sofia Learns About Research” can be experienced at downtown Buffalo’s Explore & More — The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum.
