PCORI places a high level of emphasis on using optimal methodology for patient-centered CER. PCORI applications need to address (or justify not addressing) 64 different methodology standards. These standards, which have been developed through the PCORI methodology committee, can be thought of as minimal considerations for best practices in conducting patient-centered CER, include both cross-cutting standards and study design-specific standards. In addition to these specific standards, which have to be documented through a checklist provided as part of the application templates, investigators should be aware of other advanced statistical methods used for complex pragmatic studies.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the main categories of PCORI methodology standards.
2. Identify study design and statistical approaches needed for pragmatic studies.
