WNY Prosperity Fellowship

Generously supported by the Prentice Family Foundation, the Western New York Prosperity Fellowship supports University at Buffalo students who are committed to contributing to our region’s economic vitality.

The program delivers on this promise by providing Prosperity fellows with professional development opportunities, as well as resources and access to Western New York business leaders and the community.

This fellowship program assists undergraduate and graduate students who are actively preparing for careers that further economic development and growth, especially in the Western New York region.

2. Prepare Supporting Documentation

  • Letters of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation are required (one from a faculty member; one non-restricted).
    • For current UB students: Letters of recommendation are accepted via the application portal: students will enter contact information for each recommender, which will prompt the individual to submit the recommendation online. Students are encouraged to follow up with their recommenders to ensure they received the request. 
    • For non-UB students applying for Fall 2025 or transferring to UB: You must invite your supporters to email letters of recommendation to Hadar Borden, Director, WNY Prosperity Fellowship Program at hborden@buffalo.edu or upload to WNY Prosperity Letter of Recommendation site.
  • FAFSA. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the advised deadline. Please note that you can file a FAFSA using estimated income information and update your FAFSA once you complete your current tax return.
  • Resume.
  • Unofficial transcript.

3. Begin Your Online Application
