Federal Information

This UB box folder includes: (1) executive order summaries prepared by the Council on Governmental Relations; and (2) recent executive actions on diversity, equity and inclusion prepared by the Congressional Research Service.

The White House has issued a number of federal executive orders that pertain to federal grants and programs. This Federal Agency Transition Guidance webpage from UB's Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development features updates and resources related to these federal orders and other federal actions affecting federally funded research. 

New York State Information

This executive order is an amended version of the 2017 executive order that prohibits state agencies and officers from inquiring about or disclosing an individual’s immigration status unless required by law or necessary to determine eligibility for a benefit or service. 

Relevant to New York State Executive Order 170.1, SUNY has provided protocols for state-operated campuses when interacting with external law enforcement officers. University community members should familiarize themselves with this guidance to ensure all requests from external law enforcement are referred to University Police (UPD) and representatives from the Office of General Counsel. 

University at Buffalo Information

International Student Services (ISS) provides support for UB's international students including immigration advising, advocacy and programming to enhance their experiences while at UB. Students can visit the ISS website to find a list of resources, FAQs, drop-in advising schedule and contact information for the ISS office. 

UB Immigration Services (UBIS) is responsible for immigration matters involving UB's international faculty, researchers and postdoctoral scholars. The UBIS website provides information regarding the various services, help and support provided by UBIS staff. UB departments seeking immigration support services for their faculty and scholars should contact UBIS for assistance. 

Counseling Services’ website provides numerous resources to support students’ personal well-being and academic success, including mental health services, educational programs, crisis intervention and campus community consultation. 

This website provides contact information for employee assistance consultants who are available to support faculty and staff regarding personal, work, mental health and physical health concerns. 

Community Information

This site provides a list of local and national resources for mixed-status and undocumented students, faculty and staff.
