Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity (GFSD)

Overview

The Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity (GFSD) is a partnership between government agencies and laboratories, industry, and higher education. GFSD's goal is to increase the number of American citizens with graduate degrees in the physical sciences and related engineering fields, emphasizing recruitment of a diverse applicant pool. The fellowship lasts for up to six years, provides a $20,000 annual stipend, covers tuition, and includes the possibility of a paid internship with a government agency, in addition to providing mentorship.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a US citizen.
  • Be a graduate student enrolled in a degree program in the physical sciences or related engineering fields at a participating GFSD-member university or college.
