I currently focus my research on low-income, first-generation and marginalized students within the Higher Education system, and how we can improve methods and policies to allow for people to succeed within our higher education spaces.

Anthony Vargas is a current PhD student in the Higher Education program in the University at Buffalo's Graduate School of Education.
Vargas is a two-time graduate from the University at Buffalo; he completed his bachelor’s degree in Criminology & Sociology in 2020, and his master's degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs in 2022. Throughout his time at UB, he has served as the President of the Latin American Student Association, a Resident Advisor for two years, an Assistant Hall Director, and as a Residence Hall Director.
