Did you receive a call from 716-645-8973? That’s a UB student calling you. Don’t be shy, answer the call!
We’re a group of 50 student callers who are on the phones nightly to raise awareness of the university’s achievements and to encourage UB alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends to show their commitment to the university’s mission by contributing a donation. We feel fortunate that we’re able to work in this role, connecting with alumni and helping to raise funds to support the university.
The student phonathon center is connecting UB one call at a time! Over the course of the year we make more than 850,000 calls and connect with approximately 25,000 members of the UB community. What better way to hear about the importance of supporting UB than from those of us who are benefitting from your generosity right now!
UB’s student phonathon center is part of University Advancement, employing students each year encouraging a culture of philanthropy throughout the university. The conversations we have with alumni and friends help generate more than $3 million in much-needed financial support allocated to enhancing academic innovation, empowering personal transformation, engaging outside the classroom, developing empowered entrepreneurs, creating inspiring learning landscapes and providing financial assistance.
Over 16,500 people make annual gifts helping improve people's lives, their generous donations build upon the legacy of UB.
How did you find me?
When you graduate, you leave UB your contact information. UB makes it a priority to keep track of alumni contact information, which is kept private and confidential and used solely for the purpose of connecting alumni with the university and one another.
Why are you calling me?
1. To ask for your financial support of UB students, campus programs and initiatives with an annual gift.
2. To share information about campus and academic programs as well as today’s student experience.
3. To collect updated contact information.
Why does the student phonathon center call repeatedly without leaving a voicemail?
Each time our callers are unable to reach you, the phone number is recycled back into our calling pool. We encourage our callers to personally connect with you, so we may call you a couple of times before we reach you. So if you see our number pop up, and it’s a convenient time, please pick up for a quick chat!
What happens after I make a pledge?
After you confirm your pledge with a UB student phonathon caller, you will receive a confirmation email. A pledge confirmation will also be mailed to you which includes a reply card and envelope. For your convenience, you may also make a pledge payment online at buffalo.edu/campaign.
How do I update my contact information with UB?
Whenever you have a change to your contact information (home or email address, job title, phone number, work address), you can make updates through UB Connect, the online community exclusively for UB alumni. All you have to do is register, find your profile and make your updates. Or contact us and we will be happy to update your record for you.
I’m on the do not call registry!
We understand that you may wonder why you get a call from UB if you are on the National Do Not Call Registry. The National Do Not Call Registry does not apply to non-profit institutions like UB. We understand that you might prefer to communicate with us in another manner. If so, please email annualgiving@buffalo.edu and let us know your preferences, such as being placed on our internal “do not call” list.
