We love our Loyal Blues! Because of you and your generous annual support, UB students thrive. Thank you. Gifts to scholarship, research and emergency funds—among others—help our university community, and every gift, every dollar, every day...adds up to big impact.
To show just how much we love Loyal Blues like you, we’ve curated a month of complimentary activities and events—both virtual and in-person—because you mean so much to us.
Check out the list of Loyal Blues Month events and we hope to see you soon!
Since its inception in 1999, the Uncrowned Queens Institute has developed a multi-faceted model that promotes community engagement in the documentation/ preservation of the historical/cultural assets of African-American regional history. The UQI model is unique and cutting-edge in the use of digital tools for the preservation of regional history and culture and for its focus on community builders, whose history has been ignored, overlooked, and largely undocumented.

As part of the Slee Hall Visiting Artist Series, composer, singer and visual artist Cécile McLorin Salvant performs at Lippes Concert Hall. She is a composer, singer, and visual artist. The late Jessye Norman described Salvant as“a unique voice supported by an intelligence and full-fledged musicality, which light up every note she sings”. Salvant has developed a passion for storytelling and finding the connections between vaudeville, blues, theater, jazz, baroque and folkloric music. Salvant is an eclectic curator, unearthing rarely recorded, forgotten songs with strong narratives, interesting power dynamics, unexpected twists, and humor.
