The National News reported on how AI can be used to increase plastic recycling rates and quoted Amit Goyal, who is working on the use of “bar codes” to indicate what type of plastic an item is made of to help the process of sorting different recyclable materials. 

The expert panel recently issued a report on the National Science Foundation’s participation in the Materials Genome Initiative.

The researcher is among 15 scientists from across the world shortlisted for the 2023 Global Energy Prize. He has been nominated in the New Ways of Energy Application category.

Highlights include making hydrogen fuel cell less expensive and keeping bridges open after earthquakes.
