Traffic, traffic at border-crossings, traffic in bad weather, smart cities, electric, autonomous and conventional vehicles
Adel Sadek is an expert on traffic and intelligent transportation systems.
Sadek’s research focuses on using big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning and modeling to study traffic. The goal of this work is to improve traffic flow, save time and fuel, reduce pollution, understand crash risk and increase safety.
Over many years, Sadek’s research has ranged from studying delays at border crossings to building a computer model to help transportation planners better manage roadways during inclement weather, such as snowstorms. His interests also include forecasting travel demand.
Projects in Sadek’s lab have investigated the performance and efficiency of conventional, autonomous and electric vehicles.
Sadek was the founding director of the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics at UB.
