Jonathan Bird works at the intersection of electrical engineering and physics. His lab explores the electrical properties of emerging nanomaterials and nanodevices, including semiconductors, magnetoelectric materials and other synthetic compounds.
He can speak to the news media about how these materials have the potential to revolutionize electronics, everything from computer chips and solar panels to power grids and electric vehicles.
Bird directs the UB Center for Advanced Semiconductor Technologies, which unites researchers to address society’s increasing energy needs while training the next generation of leaders and engineers for the semiconductor industry.
