Landscape architecture, climate change and cities, multispecies design
Julia Czerniak is an internationally recognized design thinker who can speak to the media about sustainability strategies and practices for cities, and how landscape architecture can be leveraged as a tool for creating biodiverse, climate resilient cities.
In addition, Czerniak can speak about relationship of biodiversity to design through reimagining simple systems of infrastructure — such as sea walls, road crossings and shade structures — for multiple species, not just people
Educated as both an architect and landscape architect, Czerniak’s research and practice draw on the intersection of these disciplines.
Her work focuses on the physical, cultural and ecological potentials of urban landscapes, particularly in deindustrializing cities.
She has been invited as a public speaker and guest juror at over 40 schools in North America, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia.
