Sports scheduling, especially in the NFL
Mark Karwan can speak to the media about how sport organizations, especially the National Football League (NFL), create their schedules.
An industrial and systems engineer, Karwan is an expert in mathematical programming, including modeling and algorithmic development.
He has applied this knowledge to examine the NFL’s schedule-making process, and his findings have made national news.
A recent study he led found that certain NFL teams faced tougher schedules because they routinely play against more rested opponents.
