Melinda Lemke is an expert on educational policy implementation, the politics of education, and structural violence.
She examines how educational policy, schools, and related systems address gender-based violence to center the health, well-being, and human rights of young women and girls. Lemke is an interdisciplinary scholar and has a previous career in K-12 urban public teaching and curriculum development.
She can speak to the media about the intersection between educational policy and public health interventions concerning adolescent gender-based violence, as well as aspects of forced displacement including human trafficking and refugee resettlement. Lemke also can speak to the media about K-12 social studies (i.e., gender) curriculum and the role of women in (educational) leadership.
