College access, financial aid policy, college transition
Nathan J. Daun-Barnett can speak to members of the media about college access for low-income, first generation, and under-represented minority students, as well as strategies for increasing that access.
He examines state, local and institutional policies and practices that are designed to help students and families navigate the college choice process and prepare academically and socially for post-secondary education.
Much of Daun-Barnett’s research focuses on the challenge of developing large-scale systemic change around issues of college access and equity at the state and local levels.
He is currently funded to examine the design and implementation of the Florida College Access Network and has conducted similar research in Michigan. He works closely with Say Yes to Education Buffalo to coordinate efforts to address students’ transitions from high school to college.
