Structural fire engineering, wildfires in wildland-urban interface communities, fire following earthquake, multi-hazard engineering, disaster resilience
Negar Elhami-Khorasani is an expert in fire and multi-hazard engineering (for example, in the context of post-earthquake fires).
A primary goal of her research is to measure and improve resilience of structures (buildings, tunnels and bridges) and communities to extreme events and multi-hazard scenarios by improving risk assessment and code and design guidelines.
Elhami-Khorasani can speak to the media about issues such as structural fire engineering, the performance of buildings and other structures at high temperatures, post-earthquake fires, and wildfire risks in wildland urban interfaces — areas where natural environments meet human-developed land.
