Senior Associate Dean for Research Integration
Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo
Childhood diabetes; family-based obesity treatment; clinical translational research and trials, with a focus on diversity and inclusion
Teresa Quattrin is an expert on pediatric diabetes, growth and obesity.
A physician-scientist, Quattrin has been involved in a number of studies that examine how health care professionals and families can help young children and their parents make healthy changes to achieve a healthier weight. Her research also focuses on preventing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and on improving treatment and care for young patients who have these diseases.
As the inaugural senior associate dean for research integration in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB, Quattrin promotes research integration within the Jacobs school and between the Jacobs school and other health sciences and colleges at UB. She also facilitates collaborative research with partners outside of UB and community stakeholders.
As director of the UB Clinical and Translational Science Institute Special Populations Core, her work also involves increasing representation of families, children and underrepresented patient populations in clinical research and trials. To that end, she and her colleagues have created an activity book to teach children the basics of clinical research and trials.
