Infectious diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), vaccine development, children’s ear infections, health disparities, clinical and translational science
Timothy Murphy can discuss infectious diseases and how and why they spread, as well as vaccine development.
He can explain how bacterial infections invade the respiratory tract. For over two decades, he has conducted research on these infections in COPD. He also studies pathogens responsible for many of the ear infections that affect mostly children, and he can address the physician-scientist shortage and other research and health care related issues.
Murphy directs UB’s National Institutes of Health-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the UB Community Health Equity Research Institute, which conducts research that addresses the root causes of health disparities, while developing and testing innovative solutions.
