Electrochemistry, waste conversion, transforming greenhouse gases into useful products, chemistry of CO2, plastics
Y. Chris Li is an expert in electrochemistry and the chemical processes that lie behind waste conversion.
His lab develops electrochemical reactions to transform waste products into useful materials with commercial value. One area of interest involves efforts to turn greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide or methane into chemicals such as hydrocarbons or alcohol.
In addition to commenting on his own research, Li can speak to the media about the chemistry of a range of chemical products and waste conversion technologies, such as projects to transform plastics into biofuels.
Li can respond to interview requests in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
