The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 11, 2009) on the South (Main Street) Campus for the building it will call home in 2012.

UB's neighbors in the University District are invited to "Neighbors' Day" from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday Sept. 6 (Rain date: Sept. 7 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.) -- a free, fun, music and information-filled Block Party and Safety Fair on the UB South (Main St.) Campus lawn in front of Hayes Hall.

The weekly University Community Farmers Market Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon, will have a safety theme, featuring child-seat safety checks by University Police officers, as well as practical portable fire extinguisher training for community members, presented by UB's Environmental Health and Safety office.

Officers from the Buffalo Police Department, University at Buffalo and Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority will gather tonight before beginning their first night of new joint patrols in University Heights.

"Doorhanger" kits containing safety reminders and tips on how to be a good neighbor will be distributed to students and other residents in more than 2,700 homes in University Heights from 4-7 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 26, 2009) as part of the University at Buffalo's ongoing and longstanding efforts to improve safety and quality of life in the neighborhood.
