    The University at Buffalo Alumni Association will honor an entrepreneur and the former president and CEO of Coca Cola Enterprises Inc. during the UB Alumni Association Achievement Awards ceremony to be held at 6:30 p.m. April 8 in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall on the North Campus.

    Like most people who don't personally know someone who needs a transplant, University at Buffalo student Alex Teschemacher hadn't considered becoming a bone marrow donor. But in the fall of 2009, while walking through the UB Student Union, he and a friend came upon a National Marrow Donor Program recruitment drive sponsored by the UB Prehealth Advising office. On the spur of the moment, they decided to register.

    After age 21, problem gambling is considerably more common among U.S. adults than alcohol dependence, even though alcohol dependence has received much more attention, according to researchers at the University at Buffalo's Research Institute on Addictions.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. -- U.S. Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand will be the keynote speaker at this year's University at Buffalo Law School commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. May 21 in the Center for the Arts on UB's North Campus.
  • SUNY Chancellor Recommends Satish K. Tripathi as President of UB

    SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher today announced that she has recommended Dr. Satish K. Tripathi as the next president of the University at Buffalo. Dr. Tripathi has served as UB's provost and executive vice president for academic affairs for the past six years. The Chancellor has asked the SUNY Board of Trustees to convene a special meeting in April in Buffalo, to formally consider his appointment as president. Effective immediately, Chancellor Zimpher also named Dr. Tripathi as UB's Officer-In-Charge, with all of the responsibilities and authority of a campus president.

    Esther Takeuchi, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Greatbatch Professor of Advanced Power Sources at the University at Buffalo, will be one of nine living inductees into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, according to an announcement today by the NIHF, which honors legendary inventors whose innovations have changed the world.
