  • In Demolition's Wake, the Remains of a Future City

    Artist and architect Dennis Maher collects discarded building materials from demolition sites and salvage yards throughout the de-industrialized city of Buffalo and uses them to create haunting sculptures, paintings and environmental installations that he usually installs in other city buildings slated for demolition, restoration or renovation.

    The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Shaolin Warriors at 8 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. The performance is sponsored in part by the UB Student Association.

    "Lessons from Homicides: The Buffalo Story," a new documentary that explores the lessons learned by individuals, families, communities and organizations with direct experience of those homicides, will premiere at the Buffalo Museum of Science, 1020 Humboldt Parkway at 6 p.m. Oct. 19.
  • Alumna Aikin Returns to UB for Two Concerts

    World renowned soprano and UB alumna Laura Aikin will return to her alma mater next week to perform a concert marking the official naming of UB's Center for 21st Century Music as the Robert and Carol Morris Center for 21st Century Music.
