  • The 'Start Something that Matters' Story Contest

    Blake Mycoskie, founder and "chief shoe-giver" at TOMS, the popular shoe and eyewear company, and author of New York Times' best seller "Start Something That Matters," will speak November 15 at 8 p.m. in the University at Buffalo's Alumni Arena, North Campus, as part of the 2012 UB Distinguished Speakers Series.

    Today is the grand opening ceremony of the University at Buffalo's new Crossroads Culinary Center (C3), a student dining facility that puts UB at the forefront of the collegiate dining experience. The ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m. on the first floor of Red Jacket Quadrange in the Ellicott Complex on UB's North Campus.

  • UB Law School Recognized as a "Best School" for Black Students

    The University at Buffalo Law School has been chosen as one of the best law schools for black students. The recognition comes from On Being a Black Lawyer (OBABL), a resource center and social media firm that supports African Americans' success in law school. OBABL's The Black Student's Guide to Law Schools will be published Oct. 17.

The pomp and energy of big-time intercollegiate sports. A nightlife of comedy and jazz. Unique food and special events, such as a wing-eating contest, family brunch, a car smash and window paintings. The hundreds of University at Buffalo people working hard to make the pieces of the Oct. 19-21 weekend come together call it True Blue Days.

  • UB Ranked One of the World's Best Universities by Times Higher Education

    Times Higher Education has named the University at Buffalo as one of the world's top 200 universities. UB is ranked 198th in the 2012-13 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, up from last year's ranking among the top 201 to 225 universities worldwide. The assessment uses 13 performance indicators to analyze how well a university is doing in core missions including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

    The UB Marching Band will parade through the Hotel Lafayette lobby playing the UB fight song Friday night as the University at Buffalo Law School kicks off its 125th anniversary celebration with a 650-piece rolling blue-and-white cupcake display topped by giant sparklers.
