Zodiaque Dance Company Sets February Performances

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Zodiaque, the dance company of the University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance, will present "Frontiers II," a spring concert of new works celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of UB.

The production will open at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Performances will continue at 8 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, through Feb. 23.

Tickets are $10 (general admission) and $5 (students and senior citizens) and will be half price on Feb. 13, 16 and 20.

Tickets may be charged by phone through the UB Arts and Athletics Ticket Office, 645-ARTS, or obtained in person at the office, which opens one hour before performances. Tickets also may be obtained through any Ticketmaster outlet, including those at Movies Plus, Music Plus and Kaufmann¹s department stores, or may be charged by calling 852-5000.

The program, directed by Linda Swiniuch, will feature music ranging from medieval to urban house. The score will includes a new commissioned dance by Ben Toth, a composition major at the Eastman School of Music who is recording a work, titled "Embracing the Shadows," with eight instrumentalists and a vocalist.

Choreography will be designed by Swiniuch, William E. Thomas, Tressa Crehan, Lynne Kurdziel-Formato, Eileen Lambert, Karen Georger, Joyce Miller, Shelley Hain and Tom Ralabate. Set and costume design are by UB visiting artist Leandro Soto, noted Mexic an performance artist who performed and lectured here last semester.
