BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Reginald B. Newman II, president of NOCO Energy Corp. of Buffalo, has been named 1997 "Niagara Frontier Executive of the Year" by the University at Buffalo School of Management.
The award will be presented at the 48th annual UB School of Management Alumni Association Awards Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
A graduate of Northwestern University and a native of Western New York, Newman worked for the Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich., for one year before joining NOCO in 1960. NOCO is a family-owned petroleum products supplier and terminal operator that supplies home heating oil, industrial fuels, lubricants, aviation fuels and asphalt throughout Western New York.
Newman has been affiliated with numerous civic and community organizations. Chair of the board of trustees of the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc., he has been a member of the board since 1989. He also has been affiliated with the Greater Buffalo Partnership, Millard Fillmore Health System and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. He received an honorary degree from Canisius College in 1997.
Newman and his wife, Carol, reside in Amherst and have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Established in 1949, the Niagara Frontier Executive of the Year award honors a resident of the Niagara Frontier who has distinguished himself or herself in a career marked by executive success, a proven willingness to assume a leadership role in civic affairs, and a demonstration of high personal integrity.
Past recipients include Lawrence P. Castellani; Robert E. Rich, Sr.; Paul L. Snyder; Robert E. Rich, Jr.; Jeremy M. Jacobs; the late Burt P. Flickinger, Jr.; the late Seymour H. Knox III; Sal H. Alfiero, and Robert G. Wilmers. Last year's honoree was Frank L. Ciminelli.
