BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Seminars on oral surgery and healthy living will be featured at the Greater Niagara Frontier Dental Meeting, to be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 11 and 12, in the Buffalo Convention Center.
The meeting is sponsored by the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association.
€ "Aesthetic Restoration of Decimated Dentitions" by David Federick, D.M.D., a private practitioner specializing in aesthetic dentistry, periodontal-prosthetic rehabilitation and dental-implant reconstruction, on Sept. 11.
€ "Healthy Living Seminar" by Joseph Barile, a chiropractor in private practice, on Sept. 11. Barile will lecture on the possibility of a life free of degenerative diseases.
€ "When Simple Extractions Aren't" and "What's New in Oral Surgery" by Lawrence Barrett, II, D.D.S., chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Naval Post-Graduate Dental School, on Sept. 12.
€ "Periodontal Update: If the Research Fits, Use It!" by William Becker, D.D.S., past president of the Southern Arizona Dental Society and the American Academy of Periodontology, on Sept. 12.
€ "Empowering the Dental Team" and "Interoffice Communication" by Laurie Semple, a certified dental assistant, registered dental assistant and dental practice management assistant, on Sept. 12.
Sessions also will be offered on dental restorations, coping with the stress of a malpractice suit, fundamentals of implant restorations, CPR, techniques for assisting crown and bridge installation and infection control and hazardous chemical exposure.
In addition, the meeting will feature a breakfast on Sept. 12 honoring UB dental alumnus Henry Spiller, D.D.S., who fought to add fluoride to public water supplies to cut the incidence of tooth decay.
The registration fee for the meeting is $70 for alumni association members who have paid their dues, $145 for non-members and $15 for staff. For more information, contact the UB Dental Alumni Association at 829-2061.
