Seminars to Focus On New Research About Teaching Science, Reading And Social Studies

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for Continuing Professional Education in the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education will hold a series of seminars on research and education for teachers, superintendents, curriculum directors, supervisors and building administrators.

The programs are scheduled from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 29 in the University Inn and Conference Center, 2401 N. Forest Road, Amherst.

• Sept. 24 -- Rodney Doran, UB professor of learning and instruction, who will discuss new research on science education in grades K-12.

• Oct. 1 -- Michael Kibby, professor and chair of the UB Department of Learning and Instruction, who will present new findings in the field of reading instruction in a talk entitled “Reading (Part 2): Implementation Strategies and Programs that Work.”

• Oct. 29 -- Scott G. Grant, UB assistant professor of learning and instruction, who will make a presentation on social-studies teaching strategies in grades K-12.
