BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Williamsville resident Reginald B. Newman II, president of NOCO Energy Corp., has been reappointed chair of the board of trustees of the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc.
Prior to becoming chair, Newman, who has been affiliated with the board since 1989, was vice chair of the foundation and previously served as chair of the investment committee.
The foundation promotes the activities and programs of the University at Buffalo by providing support and advice regarding fund raising, managing gifts and grants on behalf of the university; providing a wide range of financial services for various units of the university, developing and managing real property on behalf of the university, and providing a broad base of private-sector support for the university through the foundation's trustees and directors.
The board of trustees, which participates in the university's development program, is responsible for raising community awareness of the need for private support for UB, soliciting gifts on behalf of it and managing assets received by the foundation. The board also provides advice and counsel to the president of the university on matters involving the UB community and its constituencies.
Other officers appointed by the foundation are John N. Walsh III of Buffalo, chairman and chief executive officer of Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc., vice chair; Richard E. Heath, partner in the law firm of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods and Goodyear, secretary, and Donald A. Ross, of Buffalo, former president of Rand Capital Corp., treasurer.
The foundation also elected several new board trustees for three-year terms. They are Beverly Foit-Albert of Orchard Park, president and owner of Foit-Albert Associates, P.C.; Mark E. Hamister of Clarence, chairman and chief executive officer of National Health Care Affiliates, Inc.; Jordan A. Levy of East Amherst, co-chairman of Softbank
Services Group; William L. McHugh of Buffalo, executive vice president of Independent Health Associates; and Louis R. Reif of Williamsville, former chairman and chief executive officer of National Fuel Gas Co.
Serving as a trustee and chair of the audit committee is William M.E. Clarkson of Buffalo, an adjunct professor in the UB Department of Planning and former chair of Graphic Controls Corp. Robert Rich, Jr. of Buffalo, president of Rich Products Corp., was reappointed as a board trustee.
Philip B. Wels, M.D., of Williamsville, has been named trustee emeritus of the foundation. Wels, chair emeritus of the UB Council, also is professor emeritus of surgery and associate dean emeritus of the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
New directors elected to three-year terms are Sal H. Alfiero of Amherst, chairman and chief executive officer of Mark IV Industries, Inc.; Robert T. Brady of East Aurora, president and chief executive officer of Moog Controls, Inc., and John N. Walsh III.
The following directors were re-elected to three-year terms: William G. Gisel, Jr. of Buffalo, president, Food Group of Rich Products Corp.; Walter E. Kempa, Jr. of Orchard Park, vice president, finance of Gemcor; Jonathan W. Reynolds of Buffalo, chief investment officer of Marine Midland Bank; William I. Schapiro of Buffalo, attorney with the law firm Jaeckle, Fleischmann, and Mugel, and Jeremy M. Jacobs, Jr. of Buffalo, senior executive vice president of Delaware North Companies, Inc.
