BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Seven students were honored during commencement ceremonies held recently by the Graduate School of Social Work at the University at Buffalo.
o Paige Rizzo Mecca of Williamsville, the Archie W. Swanson Honorary Award for demonstration in field work practice qualities of professional integrity, creativity, respect for the dignity of man, warmth and keen sensitivity.
o Trina Laughlin of Rochester, the Dena P. Gold Memorial Award for outstanding study, field work or other contributions related to families, women or children.
o Lourdes Ventura of Corona, the Hazeltine T. Clements Award for outstanding performance in field work and concern for human dignity and interracial relations.
o Barbara Burns of Buffalo, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Western New York Division Award for demonstrating academic excellence and personified values that are enunciated by the NASW.
o JoAnn Beggs of Mississauga, Ontario, the Graduate School of Social Work's Outstanding Student of the Year Award.
o Kevin Fritz of Holland, the Niles Carpenter Scholarship Award for strong field experience, financial need, an outstanding grade-point average and potential for professional achievement.
o Susan Vonusa of Rome, the Dorothy L. Lynn Honorary Award for outstanding performance in class and field.
